What is Agape? Agape means love!!

What is its Mission?
To provide short-term emergency assistance for individuals and families in our community. This ministry allows participating volunteers to put their Christian faith into action through helping God’s people in need.

Agape was founded by Earline Phillips a former St. Matthew's member. When she worked at the food bank, she saw a need for assistance on the north/northeast side of San Antonio, so she took action! St. Matthew’s is one of twenty-seven churches of different denominations supporting the Agape Ministry. There is a food pantry, a clothing area and The Fig Leaf Thrift Store whose money goes to help clients financially when needed. Agape works with other agencies and recommends alternative locations when necessary.

The Fig Leaf Thrift Store will accept donations of clothing, furniture, household items and toys, as the space allows, and there is a need.

Each month, we focus our donation needs on one item:

January - soup and crackers
February - diapers
March - canned meat (small pop top)
April - toilet tissue
May - canned fruit
June - cereal (bag or box)
July - canned vegetables (corn & beans are best)
