Blood Drive Jesus
shed his blood so that we might live! We can save lives by giving
blood every 56 days. What would Jesus do? Thousands of South Texans live healthy, productive lives today because donated blood was available when they needed it! Who benefits from donated Blood? Teenagers with
leukemia. To supply 100 hospitals and clinics in a 43 county service area, South Texas Blood and Tissue Center (STBTC) must collect an average of 500 pints of blood each day! It is estimated that only five percent of all eligible blood donors actually take time to give. Giving blood is safe. Giving blood is necessary. Most importantly, GIVING BLOOD SAVES LIVES! St. Matthew's, you have the opportunity of a lifetime-to save lives!!! It doesn't take much time, only about 45 minutes. You will be asked to answer a brief, confidential questionnaire about your medical history, lifestyle, and risk of exposure to infectious agents. If you meet the requirements for donating blood, you will get a "mini physical" including of a pulse, temperature, blood pressure and iron-level check. After you have passed the screening and medical exam, the technician will prepare your arm for donation, insert the needle and 10 to 20 minutes later you are done! Congratulations, you just saved someone’s life! The Blood
