"...Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?" The King will reply, "I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these my brothers of mine, you did for me." (Matthew 25:37-40)

St. Matthew's is a very active church. Below is a listing of some of the various ways we follow the call to be God's hands and feet in this world. The listing is alphabetical with the contact person for that ministry.

Agape Ministry - Robbie Jenkins
Agape Ministries provides a variety of services, including opportunities for worship, spiritual direction, pastoral care, spiritual study, ritual, and prayer. A focus of the ministry is the forgotten: people in prison, people beginning recovery programs, people dealing with grief, people who are alone.

Agape Tree - Leila Hileman
Agape Tree is a ministry that reaches out to the children of inmates and their families with the love of Christ. It seeks to transform the lives of these families and to reconcile them to their Heavenly Father and each other. In Matthew 18:5 Jesus said, “Whoever welcomes a little child like this in my name welcomes me.” There are children right in your community who are among the most at-risk children in the nation. Agape Tree provides an opportunity to connect with those families and begin ministering to them at Christmas and then continue through a variety of year-round ministry opportunities.

Blood Drive - Steve Curry
Every summer blood centers face blood shortages due to donors’ travel plans and school breaks. Please help your blood center ensure an adequate blood supply for your community by continuing to donate blood. Please visit your local area blood center to give the gift of life.

Day School - Martha Harwood [More]
We at St. Matthew's United Methodist Day School believe that a healthy self-concept is a child's most valuable asset. Every aspect of our program is concerned with encouraging a child's positive image of him or herself.
We believe that young children learn best by doing. Our age-appropriate curriculum is stimulating and is geared toward concrete, hands-on exploration. We encourage creative expression and independence. Our program includes Weekly Chapel, Spanish, and Indoor and Outdoor play. Our classrooms are organized into learning centers and curriculum is taught using a theme based approach.

Emmaus - Steve Curry [More]

St. Matthew's is one of several churches that participate in the Nolan Street Bridge project. St. Matthew's serves on the fourth Sunday of months with five Sundays (about three times a year). Volunteers sign up to donate food the previous week. Donations are brought to the church kitchen about 10:00am on the day we are serving, packed into cars and trucks, then driven down about 10:45. Lunch is usually simple (sandwiches, hot dogs) but include vegetable and desert. A fruit is also provided that can be eaten later such as whole apples.
