Feed the Homeless
Nolan Street Bridge
Project

The people of St. Matthew's are dedicated to sharing God's love through service to our community. We are one of several churches that participate in this ministry.

Each week a church provides and serves lunch to approximately 75 to 100 of San Antonio's homeless, under the bridge where Interstate 35 passes over Nolan Street. St. Matthew's serves on the fourth Sunday of the months with five Sundays. The Sunday before, volunteers sign up to donate food. Donations are brought to the church kitchen by 10:00 a.m. on the day we are serving, packed into cars and trucks, and then driven over to the site at about 10:45. Lunch is usually simple such as sandwiches or hot dogs etc. but includes a vegetable and dessert. We also provide fresh fruit for a snack later on.
